There is some chromatic aberration, but I believe this is less than what I remembered having with the WC-E68 installed on my Coolpix And the other problem that was to be expected - barrel distortion - appears to be rather moderate as well.

As far as I can remember, this combination is the best I have seen yet of all the WA converters that have been discussed in this forum to date. It seems you have a winner here. BTW, how do you plan to protect the bulging converter front lens? I remember that this lens is rather exposed and prone to get knocked into things. Allen2oo3 Member Thread starter. Some but low barrel distortion which is a major plus point. Nikon obviously produce high quality optics so this is no huge surprise.

I think it may have a little less distortion than my Raynox DCR wide angle add-on. Adding a secondary lens on the front of another is always a compromise. I think this is why people were so vociferous about the X having a fixed lens.

It was largely disappointment that the camera didnt allow for different lenses. I wish I could find a similar suitable x2 or x3 converter that didnt vignette. I am on my third TC Neewer 2x optic add-on as the first two units, both x3 converters, were just useless as they vignetted so badly. LincolnLogs Well-Known Member. Allen said:. I'm impressed by the corner sharpness of your test shots. I just got a secondhand Minolta ACW , and it is blurry once you get in to the extreme corners and a bit fuzzy leading up to the corners. It's A good lens, and is usable but not as good as your Nikon seems to be. Trouble is the Nikon lens in the UK seems to be extortionate. Certainly not 'a few dollars'. I can get one from the States a lot cheaper but it may take two weeks to arrive. Trouble is, I am now thinking that really i should work with what i have and get used to the X lens as it is, before i try to enhance it.

We'll see. If i find a cheap Nikon I'll go for it i think. The WC-E68 is the older model - it was designed for the Coolpix , a camera that appeared on the market in correct me if I didn't get the year right.

Anyway, the WC-E68 has been out of production for several years. The WC-E68 features a male 46mm thread. I don't know the size of the WC-E67's mounting thread.
